Lazy week

I have had a very LAZY week but it was very nice …. I didn’t  really sew a thing… Although I did go sewing Friday with a few good friends… Sarah was with us in the morning… and before I captured this… she had to leave but on her way out she admired Diane’s lovely caravan…

One of the chickens now has a name….

 it’s called…

Ummm…

 ohhhh…

thinking…

yep nothing in there…

Susan might remember… HELP SUSAN… but I remember it was a good name and the chicken we/I named…. ROTFLMAO (rolling on the floor laughing my ass off)…

On the home front…I have spotted a baby water dragon sunning itself on the edge of the cement tub that homes the goldfish …. But every time I get close it scurries away and all I get it the tub with no water dragon as shown below… ROTFLMAO…

this is the tiny water dragon...

I’ll keep trying to capture it in a photo… so look out for the water dragon blog… I am sure there will a small crowd of you cheering the little thing on…
I do have an assignment due in a few weeks so I am sorry that this is such a short blog…
Till next time … thank you for stopping by…and all smiles Robyn…

Happy Easter...

I was out of my mums today it was just nice to breath... everything was very green and rich and it was just very nice to while away a few hours…  laughing with family and friends and eating them chocolate Easter eggs...

We've had a very exciting few days here… my youngest boy Jacob helped clean up after the flooding and we are so proud of him...and he made the news…. Albeit in the background…

Yes!!! he is the same boy that was playing with the Duplo train track last week…
WHAT A WEEK...

And these are the rest of the chickens with all their names and I do let them stray into the garden although they don't tend to bother with anything yet they do look good there....

On the sewing front...
I wasn't too sure of how much I should do to the centrepiece

I am happy with the broderie purse work that I've done as you can see I just had to work on the birds and I'm happy with the result
but also I am very happy with how it is looking I doubt that I will add anymore but it look good with both birds on either side… and centre top and bottom also…

I have made a start on the pinwheels for the next border... but I haven't been able to do too much as I have an assignment due in a few days and I am doing that.... and will blog about it progress next week...

Till next time … thank you for stopping by…and all smiles Robyn…

Just breathing…

Things have been a little quite on the home front…. Although I was on grandma duties on Tuesday... we dragged out the Duplo and built the coolest train track... even the big kid played with the Duplo...

and afterwards we went to see Beauty and the Beast with mummy…  it was just beautiful and you all should go and see it if you get the chance…

On the sewing front it also has been a bit slow… although I did sit and sew the stitchery for this… and as the word says… I thought I would share this little bit of my beautiful spot in the world….
And as promised from last week I have started working with these…

it's for a friend… and it’s a gift... l do hope I have chosen her colours…  so far, I has worked on the centre… I am trying my hand at broderie perse… and for those that have no idea what I am talking about (as I had no idea) broderie perse is… French embroidery which uses printed elements to create a scene on the background fabric… I am only adding a few bits to lift the centre as the fabric is just beautiful, the way it is…

I am now making 28 of the small stars above to form the 3rd border… it will sit beside the checked border…

The chicken in the above photo has remained nameless for many years and if you have any suggestions I would love to hear from you… but before you get a little excited with all those wonderful name suggestions I need two names and girl names as I have one of the below named… he is the baby boy in the centre and he is called Mater… the baby girls either side need names…

I do have 4 more of the but they are all named…. and I will post a photo of Sprocket, Mother cluck, the rooster called Cockburn and Wendy Bird… next week…
Till next time … thank you for stopping by…and all smiles Robyn…

Birthday celebrations

This week’s birthday celebrations started with lunch on Monday… For Jan’s special birthday… The food was divine and the company was even better…

Then on Tuesday with a few friends at sewing, my good friend Lee surprised me with a yummy cake for my birthday… Which I decided to eat two pieces…Thank you… it was yummo…

Phil and I got up bright and early Wednesday morning for a few days at Tangalooma Island… so I could feed the dolphins…

After we arrived, we first had a long walk up the beach to the wreaks… It was quite warm and when we finally got back we had a cup of tea, rested and booked into our room for another rest…

We walked to the jetty area at about 5 to feed the kookaburras… The wonderful staff there informed us of all the ins and outs of feeding kookaburras and the different types of kookaburras as well as telling us about other birdlife…

At about 6 o’clock we wandered up to the jetty where the wild dolphins come in for feeding… We lined up with the many many many people there and had our turn… feeding Cruse and Luna…

I should point out their terrible table manners as they both scoffed the fish… no please or thank you…ha ha… It was a wonderful experience, something I will treasure for very long time.

Thursday, we made a hasty retreat home… Although we were booked to stay another night… It was due to the pending weather warnings... And I might add we were in a bit of a predicament but made it home safely…

When we got home I found a parcel had arrived, was a bit upset because I thought Phil had received another parcel… But it was me… and from my good friend Sue… It was filled with charm packs, a wireframe and a beautiful little stitchery... Thank you Sue… I believe I have been more than spoil with all the gifts I have been given…

To round a week off… Friday I had booked the local hotel for a dinner… And I had invited a few close friends… Phil organised a cake and the whole night was just so perfect… especially the chocolate cake… Ha ha ha…

On the sewing front, I got to play with these beautiful fabrics “12 days of Christmas” and made a few tiny spinning stars… Wonky spinning stars for the next border… for the newly named “Christmas with Robyn” and must add that my 2 students are right behind me…so I need to get busy…

And on the home front I have been looking out for the baby water dragon that has taken up residence in our front court yard and he/she is growing nicely… but I also found this baby residing in the court yard outside our bathroom window…

Thank you for stopping by and next week I’ll blog about my new sewing project… all smiles Robyn

High tea.

A small group of us went for high tea, to celebrate me turning 50. Yes…. and WOW….  Theresa booked a perfect spot at Devon and pixies, in Logan Village. And the morning just rolled past so very fast… even though it seems this whole birthday thing is lasting longer that I thought… I must say … I am loving it all…

About 10 years ago… a few of the same ladies celebrated for my 40th with an afternoon tea. I was so overwhelmed and on a natural high I wrote a poem about that afternoon, and after today I felt it important to re-read…  and I called it Afternoon Tea… lol no imagination there
I hope you love it…We all had so much fun and I am so lucky to have so many good friends that have stuck with me.

Afternoon tea

How good is that, how would it be,
a group of friends gather for me,
it’s coffee and cake, a savoury or two,
one of them had, one of each shoe.
How great it was, how should it be,
we giggled and laughed through afternoon tea,
presents and parcels, on the table they sat,
as another spoke of heels and a flat.
How grand it is, how could it be,
a 40th birthday came quickly to me,
warnings and wishing, were tossed all about,
what a wonderful life I would not live without

WOW that was 10 years ago... we have done so much and really had a great time getting where we are today... I have a few more quilts to keep me warm and a few more friends to laugh with… and at… mind you I believe that I give them more to laugh at… as I have mastered foot and mouth disease…. The naming of a foal called forthwith… is just one but I am sure the story about Clivia court is the funniest… thank you all for the so many warm wishes and here is to the next ten years…
and a few gifts...

And on the sewing front I have collected these for a new project and I am so looking forward to working on it...

next week I will update you on the newly name Christmas with Robyn form the fabric range Twelve days of Christmas….
All smiles Robyn

There are so many things to be grateful for…. NICE SMOOTH ROADS HOME… are just one of them… but the stops between are also fabulous … I last blogged from Tamworth NSW and the next day we took a detour to Nundle… and I must say, the bumpy roads are so worth it…and I got my hands on a bundle of Moda Chocolate by 3 sisters… thank you Kerry Swain from Cottage on the Hill … you have made someone very happy…

Then it was followed by a pit stop, you all will love…. The Home Patch…I think I just drooled… but only a little bit…I did get another new project…. Of cause….

We arrived home on the Wednesday afternoon safely and just in time for me to leave for a retreat starting Friday morning… phew… And from my first Blog I worked on this little beauty… Twelve days of Christmas range of fabric...

and can now boast that I have two students… the fun Sarah and funny Sherrie … we have also renamed my “Christmas with Anni” to “Christmas with Robyn” and I’d also like to say that I can do this teaching thing… lol... this is Sarah’s, as you can see she has got a quite bit done…. Sherri will work on hers at home… told you she was funny… lol

There was about 14 of us on retreat and we all had a great time eating, sewing and chatting… then they surprised me with this beautiful quilt for my up and coming 50th… how lucky am I and I will treasure it everyday… Thank you everyone for a great weekend…
